Investing in infrastructure
From improvements to roads and schools to providing access to clean water, we have invested in infrastructure to improve the lives of those in communities surrounding our mines.
Building social capital
From ECD programmes for pre-school children to bursaries for tertiary education we have invested in education for youth within the districts of our operations.
Growing human capital
From skills development and employing locally, to facilitating black entrepreneurs to provide outsourced services, we are committed to local economic development surrounding our mines.
Portable Skills Training Update
In 2018, 30 applicants were successful in undergoing portable skills training. Over the course of a few weeks they acquired skills in carpentry, bricklaying and plumbing and spent time applying these skills in an on-the-job training environment. All our applicants worked very hard to make the most of their opportunity and we are proud of their achievements. Having these practical skills enables them to find employment or start their own business. Our aim with portable skills training is to equip recruits with end-to-end skills within specific trades, to empower them for acquiring and creating work for themselves and others.
Within Palesa we recruited from: Ekangala, Nootegedact, KwaMlanga, Loopspruit Farm, Sokhulumi.
Within Mbali we recruited from: Lynnville, Mafufela Farm, Klippoortjie Farm, Ogies, Rietspruit, Kwaguqa.
Congratulations to all our successful trainees on their hard work and dedication. HCI Coal wishes you the very best for your career in these fields and your employment prospects.
